DIY Mirrored Collar

Hey guys,

Today I’m back with my first DIY post! This one is about how I created this awesome collar, using some old CDs I found lying around my house.

This is such a quick and easy DIY to do. It’ll be sure to bring some life back into those old button up shirts.

So the things I used for this DIY are:

– Old button up shirt

– A container

– Glue

– Scissors

– 1-2 CDs depending on how much of the collar you want to cover

– A letter opener or a stick of some sort

First you’ll want to boil some water, then pour it into your container.

Then add the CDs in, letting them sit for 2-5 minutes. After the time has elapsed, remove the CDs with the stick and dry them off.

After cooling you want to separate the CD into half by using your scissors to cut a tiny slit, then using your nail to separate the two pieces.

You should now have 2 reflective pieces, with one being more transparent than the other. Depending on which disc you use, paint a coat of Mod Podge, or spray a clear sealant before cutting out the shapes. This would help with the chipping and flaking that can occur over time. If you forget this step like I did. You can paint your pieces with a clear nail polish after you cut out the shapes.

Once the cutting is complete, glue the pieces to the collar in any layout you want. Make sure you press firmly on the collar to ensure the pieces will stick.

Leaving the collar to dry after an hour or so you should have something similar to this:

Happy DIY-ing!

Lana Del Rey’s National Anthem Video Featuring A$AP Rocky

This video has made me love A$AP Rocky even more. Check him out in Lana Del Rey’s video National Anthem.

The concept is a classical twist. The two play the Kennedy’s, A$AP as JFK and Lana as Jackie O. According to Rocky with his interview with he says “We did a video together … [it’s] some swag sh–,” he said. “I play JFK, she plays Jackie O, you know, some cool, trippy sh–, some really 2015 sh–. People gonna get it in like three years, and that’s the whole purpose of it.”

To watch the entire interview with click the link above, but in the mean time check out the on-screen chemistry between them in the video, you’ll be sure to love it.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

It’s almost that time again! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be back in NYC returning to Lincoln Center for the 3rd time. Designers will be presenting their Spring 2012 collections.

Fashion week is a time when designers, brands or “houses” showcase their work for either their Fall or Spring collection. It’s also a time when buyers attend numerous shows to see what the latest trends are.

Fashion Week shows take place twice a year. From January through April designers showcase Fall and Winter Collections, and from September to November Spring and Summer collections are shown. New York is one of the 4 major fashion capitals, along with London, Milan and Paris.

Designers from Chanel, BCBGMAXAZIRA, Betsey Johnson, Diane Von Furstenberg, Lacoste, Badgley Mischka, and many others will be showcasing their fabulous pieces at Lincoln Center.

I have a feeling September 8th- 15th will be filled with even bigger, better, and even more creative designs. I can’t wait!

Hello world!

Hello!  Nice of you to come and explore my blog.  Let me introduce myself. My name is DeAnn Harte, last name pronounced (heart). I am 19 years old and this is my first real blog. A few words to describe myself: silly, funny, creative, friendly, and passionate. I am currently a Sophomore at Centenary College, NJ, studying Fashion Merchandising.  After I graduate I want to become a Fashion Event Coordinator and a Stylist.

Now I just recently had the epiphany that I wanted to become a stylist last week. I just love fashion, and I am fascinated by the way people dress. Its one of the ways people can express themselves. Some people write poetry, others get tattoos, and some do it by dressing a certain way. Fashion has no definite definition to me because what you might think is NOT fashion, someone else sees it AS being so.  This famous quote basically gives my viewpoint of fashion, “‘Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” – Coco Chanel. Yes that just about sums it up!

So with that being said, im very happy to be launching my new blog. Most of what you will see here is fashion of course, and other quirky, random things, because…well…. I just think its interesting hehe. I will try to  update as much as possible, to give you guys a feel of the kind of person I am, and how I feel about fashion.
