The Lug Sole

The 90’s are totally making their way back into shoe trends for the spring with lug sole shoes. This thick, chunky sole isn’t just for hiking anymore, its popping up on runways and on the feet of women from sporty to chic.

There are some pros and cons of the lug sole however, some might not like the chunkiness, or the additional weight it brings to the shoe, but on the bright side its slip resistant, provides great traction and stability. Personally, I do love the trend, just not on me. I’m already 5’9″ and don’t want to seem any taller. But for shorter gals out there I say go for it, especially if you are looking to add some height. You’ll be sure to elevate.

I found these on a website called Wheretoget.it, this is a great site to find looks and items that’s been seen on celebs, shows and social media. It’s very similar to The Hunt. Click the pic for more info.

DIY | No Sew Cardigan

Spring is coming to an end and Summer will be here in a few short weeks. Looking for quick and easy ways to spruce up your wardrobe? Check out this quick and easy DIY cardigan, best part about it… No sewing required!

Step 1: Find fabric, preferably a knit for stretch. Width wise any thing 60″+ works well. For the length, if you are looking for a short, just above the knee cardi, go for 26″ or if you’d prefer something long and dramatic maybe 41″ works best. Also you’ll need a pair of scissors and a measuring tape.

Step 2: After making sure your fabric is 60″ across, fold it in half. Measure 6 inches in from the fold and make a mark, and measure 5.5″ or 6″ down from the top of the fabric, and make another mark. This is for where you are going to cut out your arm holes.

Step 3: At this time your marks should overlap or have a common center point. Find that center and cut a slit 8 inches long, then give it a nice tug and that’s it!

Be sure to pull on the raw edges of your fabric. This way the ends curl for a nice finish.

Style tip: Pair with a belt just around the waist for a nice gathered look.

Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week

It’s almost that time again! Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be back in NYC returning to Lincoln Center for the 3rd time. Designers will be presenting their Spring 2012 collections.

Fashion week is a time when designers, brands or “houses” showcase their work for either their Fall or Spring collection. It’s also a time when buyers attend numerous shows to see what the latest trends are.

Fashion Week shows take place twice a year. From January through April designers showcase Fall and Winter Collections, and from September to November Spring and Summer collections are shown. New York is one of the 4 major fashion capitals, along with London, Milan and Paris.

Designers from Chanel, BCBGMAXAZIRA, Betsey Johnson, Diane Von Furstenberg, Lacoste, Badgley Mischka, and many others will be showcasing their fabulous pieces at Lincoln Center.

I have a feeling September 8th- 15th will be filled with even bigger, better, and even more creative designs. I can’t wait!
